Kade & Jessica’s Wedding Day 2019

There are a lot of firsts that come along in a lifetime, but some firsts just mean more than others.

For instance, you most likely have no recollection of the first time you put on a band-aid but you most likely remember falling the first time you learned to ride a bike.

If you are a follower of our newsletters, you noticed that last month was the first time we have missed getting out our monthly newsletter. This was because we were experiencing one of those “first-time” events. Our eldest son, Kade, was married to his one and only sweet-heart, Jessica. Kade and Jessica were married on July 13. Kade and Jessica began dating their Freshman year of high-school after being friends for a few years. As they began dating, it was hard for us to not fall in love with Jessica ourselves but we wanted to guard ourselves from the fact that they may not “last” and we also did not want to influence their relationship. High school came and went, and together they stayed. Time to start thinking of college, and together they stayed. Time for college graduation, and together they stayed.

How blessed they have been. I know some people have said to us that it is a shame that they have not gotten to date other people, but I can only think and imagine what a peaceful heart they must both have knowing they have found that perfect person to be with, from such a young age: someone they have been able to share almost every life experience, someone that has already been apart of their existence almost as long as they were single (a feat that takes most of us 25, 30, 40 years of marriage to do), someone that is their perfect other half so perfect in fact that there was never a doubt or second thought by either of them that they needed to experience dating other people.

Not only as a parent, but as someone who values the strength and love it takes to make a marriage last a lifetime, I am thankful for what Kade and Jessica have been given. The next phase of their life has begun.

Kade graduated from Purdue with multiple degrees and has started a great career in the IT/Engineering Field. Jessica also graduated from Purdue with multiple degrees and is starting on to IU Law School in just a few days. What has been a first for us, the first of our children getting married, will never be forgotten. We love Jessica and Kade and we hope and pray that they hold on tight to each other especially when the goings get tough-even if they don’t have that veil to hang on to!
